I remember one nurse I used to work with who had a pretty sweet gig...
He worked Saturday and Sunday from 8 am until Midnight. The first 8 hours were standard pay and the second 8 hours were overtime pay. So in 2 days, he accumulated 40 hours worth of pay and had the rest of the week to himself.
Pretty sweet... if you can handle it. I'm not sure I could.

I worked two doubles and an 8 as an EMT in a local ED in order to put myself through nursing school. I'd go to class Friday, go straight from there to work, work 3-11/11-7, sleep 5 hours and do the same again. Sunday I'd do a 3-11, and go to class Mon. morning. I have NO clue how I did that for 4 years. I look back on it, nd shake my head! I just remember being dog tired alllll the time. I wish they had paid ME overtime for the second half of those doubles....Have a great weekend!
well what is even more interesting, NurseExec, is that this was when I was working in a Transitional Care Unit of a LTC facility. Maybe you should try offering that shift if you are having trouble with weekends.?
Again, I have a hard enough time doing two or three twelves in a row, so I'm telling all the kiddies to not try this at home (home doesn't pay as well as work).
i think i can do that. the idea of being off for 5 days will be my inspiration :)
I'm considering doing that now. My daughter will be in school full time in the fall and working evenings I'd never see her so I'm thinking of doing just that, plus I'm in school too.
